HKBUAS emphasizes students’ social and emotional well-being through a Student Management & Support framework that promotes respect, responsibility, honesty, and healthy interpersonal relationships. Their Student Guidance & Support team—comprising educational psychologists, social workers, guidance teachers, life coaches, and a registered nurse—runs grade-based seminars, workshops, peer mentorship (“Big Brother Big Sister”), and caring support groups. They also host school-wide events like “Thanksgiving Week” to foster gratitude and awareness.
Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School operates a Gifted Education cum Special Educational Needs (SEN) framework coordinated by the Centre for Gifted Education. The school follows Dr. Joseph Renzulli’s Three-Ring Conception of Giftedness and implements a three-tier model for enrichment, pull-out programmes, and off-school support. Within this structure, students with additional learning needs receive individualised assistance through the Educational Psychologist, Social Workers, and Student Development Team, who monitor academic and emotional progress. Support measures include Acceleration Programmes in subjects such as Mathematics, as well as the Double Promotion Programme for students demonstrating exceptional readiness, assessed through academic reviews and psychological evaluation. The school is not a specialist SEN institution but integrates SEN support within its whole-school approach, ensuring social and emotional development alongside academic provision. It is also recognised as a Gifted Education Satellite Centre of the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE), connecting students with local and international enrichment opportunities.
The school does not publicly disclose a distinct EAL programme for learners whose first language is not English.
Mental well-being is addressed via the Student Guidance & Support team, which provides developmental, preventive, and remedial programmes tailored to students’ emotional needs. The professional team includes psychologists, social workers, life coaches, and a registered nurse to support the emotional health of students. Peer mentors and student leaders also organize “cheer stations” and sharing sessions to promote mutual support.
The school states that it maintains a Student Management & Support structure to uphold safety, honesty, and responsibility in student conduct. Professional staff (e.g. social worker, guidance team) contribute to managing emotional and social needs, which supports safeguarding. The school uses a system of merits, demerits, and rules to manage behavior and encourage accountability.
