Facilities Overview

Island Christian Academy provides a holistic, whole-child learning environment within an international Christian community. The program emphasizes character development and values formation as central to teaching and learning. English literacy is embedded in teaching, with a structured language program based on the UK National Literacy Framework. The curriculum combines the International Primary Curriculum for Years 1–6 and the International Middle Years Curriculum for Years 11–14, with daily Chinese Studies and Journey 2:52 Christian Education. The school partners with Generations Christian Education to deliver holistic programmes of learning and to support a growth mindset toward academic, physical, spiritual and social development.

Academic Facilities

Island Christian Academy uses the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Year 1–6, and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) for Year 11–14, to provide an internationally-minded, concept-focused programme. English literacy is fundamental and taught through a program based on the UK National Literacy Framework, covering reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and presenting. Chinese Studies is taught daily by Putonghua-speaking teachers, with three ability-level pathways. Christian Studies is delivered through Journey 2:52 Christian Education, introduced in 2016–17. The school provides Learning Support and an Individual Educational Needs service to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. The curriculum aims to develop 21st-century dispositions such as adaptability, cooperation, communication, enquiry, morality, resilience, respect and thoughtfulness, within a Biblical worldview.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are offered as part of student life, with community and family support and structured schedules of the school day.

Island Christian Academy (IslandCA) is a Christian, international-minded primary school on Hong Kong Island. The campus is at 70 Bridges Street, Sheung Wan, in the heart of the city, and has been operating since August 2012 under Generations Christian Education in collaboration with the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong. IslandCA delivers a broad, international curriculum designed to develop the whole child—academic, physical, spiritual and social growth—within a Biblical worldview. For Year 1 to 6, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) guides learning, while Year 11 to 14 follow the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). English is the language of instruction; Mandarin is taught as a subject through Chinese Studies. The maths program follows the Australian curriculum. A school bus service is available to multiple residential areas, supporting families who commute. Extracurricular activities include swimming, tennis, photography and dance, among other offerings, helping students build character, resilience and global awareness and compassion.
