Island Waldorf School has a uniform policy. The early childhood uniform is a cotton apron, while primary students wear a white polo shirt in summer and a dark blue zip-front top in winter, plus a canvas school bag. All uniform items are sold through the school office, and shoes should be simple, closed-toe in black or white; a separate PE kit is used for physical education.
The school provides a hot meal program prepared on-site. Kindergarten students receive two meals daily (snacks and lunch), while primary and middle school students receive two meals daily (snacks and lunch). All meals are vegetarian.
Island Waldorf School is a non-profit private Waldorf school registered as a charity under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance (Charity reference 91/15835) and registered under the Education Ordinance (Registration Number 608319). It is privately funded entirely by parent contributions.
Island Waldorf School (IWS) offers a distinct alternative to mainstream education in Hong Kong, providing the territory’s first non-profit, bilingual Waldorf curriculum for children from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Located across two urban campuses on Hong Kong Island, with a dedicated Outdoor Activities Centre on Lamma Island, the school integrates intellectual, artistic, and practical learning. The curriculum is delivered through Main Lessons where a Class Teacher stays with the same group of students for multiple years, fostering deep mentorship.
