Island Waldorf School

Island Waldorf School began in September 2017 as the first Waldorf school on Hong Kong Island to offer Waldorf education for children aged 1–14 (K to 8). The school serves children from Kindergarten to Class 8 and operates on two campuses: a kindergarten in Kennedy Town and a primary/middle campus at Sai Wan. It is a non-profit, bilingual Waldorf school registered as a charity under Section 88 of the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Ordinance (charity reference 91/15835; Registration 608319). The school is funded entirely by parents' contributions. It also maintains an Outdoor Activities Centre at Ka Nam New Village, Lamma Island, reflecting its emphasis on outdoor, experiential learning.

The IWS community receives regular updates, with news, parent workshops, and interest classes for families. The school hosts annual community events such as the Winter Fair with performances, crafts, games, and food. Prospective families can attend primary and middle school tours to learn about Waldorf education. Parents can participate in parent-focused activities such as Waldorf Readiness Workshops for new kindergarten families and quarterly Kindergarten Experience Days.

IWS notes that Waldorf schools thrive with active parent involvement in various roles. Parents can participate as classroom volunteers, chaperones on field trips, help plan educational lectures, or craft handwork for events.
