Kellett School was founded in 1976 by a group of parents who wanted to establish a high-quality British-style education in Hong Kong. The first campus was in Pok Fu Lam, with the Preparatory School opening in 1980. Over time, the school expanded to two Preparatory campuses (Pok Fu Lam and Kowloon Bay) and a Senior School at Kowloon Bay. Ownership and governance are maintained through a parent-run model, with families participating via the Kellett School Association and debenture system.
The Kellett community is active across cultural, social, and service events. Annual highlights include celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Book Week, and the Easter Bonnet Parade, which bring students, parents, and staff together. The school also supports charitable initiatives through Kellett4Good and runs events like the Kellett Charity Ball.
The parent body is formally organised through the Parents’ Committee, which functions as the school’s PTA. This group organises community events, supports fundraising activities, and helps to coordinate cultural celebrations such as Lunar New Year festivities and community fairs. They also assist with events like Welcome Drinks for new parents and contribute to initiatives such as Kellett4Good. The PTA plays an important role in strengthening parent–school connections and encouraging volunteerism across both campuses.
Kellett’s Pok Fu Lam Preparatory School serves ages 4–11 on Hong Kong Island’s south side, in Wah Fu at the foot of Mount Kellett. Reception follows the EYFS, moving to a modified English National Curriculum with specialist teaching in subjects including Mandarin, music, art, PE, public speaking and digital skills; classes are capped at 24 and Pok Fu Lam runs three classes per year group. Facilities include a multi-use auditorium, gym, library, science lab, drama and dance studios, ICT and language labs, music rooms, art studio, and a SEN learning support base. The school day at PFL runs 8:30–15:15 with scheduled breaks by year group. Families use a dedicated Kwoon Chung bus service. Distinctive programmes include Innovation in Prep and whole-school wellbeing via “Positively Kellett.” Graduating Prep pupils typically continue within Kellett’s through-train pathway to Senior in Kowloon Bay.
