Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Lam Tai Fai Charitable Foundation proposed to establish a quality secondary school under the Direct Subsidy Scheme in 2002. Lam Tai Fai College began operation in September 2004. The school offers an innovative curriculum with a special emphasis on Art & Fashion Design, Sports Development, Health Education, Innovative Technology and Chinese Culture. With the backing of its sponsoring body, the College aims to develop its teaching team, curriculum, pedagogy and facilities to the highest possible standards.

Community

LTFC's Extended Curriculum covers five focus areas: Art & Fashion Design, Health Education, Innovation and Technology, Sports Education, and Chinese Culture. The school participates in the Partnership School Programme for elite student athletes; LTFC launched PSP in the 2015-2016 school year and by 2021-2022 more than 120 students had benefited. The school hosts events such as the annual Fashion Show and graduation ceremonies, and regularly features athletics and community activities involving parents and alumni. Alumni achievements and student showcases are highlighted in campus media.

Parent-Teacher Association

Lam Tai Fai College's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an officially recognized body that operates as a subsidiary of the school's board. Membership includes parent members (parents or guardians of LTFC students), non-paying ex officio members (the principal and teachers), and honorary members. The PTA is governed by an Executive Committee of fourteen members (seven parent members and seven teacher members) and holds at least one annual general meeting each year. Parent members are elected for two-year terms; the executive committee includes a chair, two vice-chairs (one parent and one teacher), a secretary, a treasurer, and roles in academic/publication, welfare, and liaison. Funding comes from membership fees, school allocations, donations and activity revenue, with the fiscal year running from September 1 to August 31 and membership fees being non-refundable. The PTA runs a variety of activities and events, including Graduation ceremonies, PTA trips, Lunar New Year stalls, rice cake workshops, Narcissus cutting, Volunteer Day and parent seminars on diversified pathways.
