Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
1. Application Submission
Parents start by completing the online registration form and paying a non-refundable application fee of HKD 1,300. Required documents (such as a birth certificate and, where applicable, school reports) must accompany the application. Applications can be made up to five years in advance.
2. Registration and Priority
Once payment is received, the child is added to the registration list. Priority is given to siblings of current LIS students; all other applicants are placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Families must reconfirm their application once each year by email to remain on the list.
3. Interview
When a space becomes available, the school invites the applicant for an interview with an LIS teacher. This includes a level assessment to ensure placement is appropriate to the child’s academic, social, and emotional development.
4. Offer and Acceptance
If the student is accepted, parents must pay the Capital Contribution Fund (CCF), equal to three months of tuition fees and return the signed Terms & Conditions Form and Statement of Waiver to confirm the place.
5. Payment and Enrolment
Tuition fees are paid monthly via Direct Debit Authorisation (DDA) or autopay. Once these steps are completed, enrolment is confirmed.
Lantau International School operates a waiting-list system, not a pool or lottery. Applicants are listed in order of application date, with sibling priority for current families. The list is reviewed and updated annually, and parents must reconfirm interest by email each year to keep their child’s place. If reconfirmation is missed, the application is removed, and a new one is required.
The school does not publicly disclose any scholarships; limited financial assistance may be available upon request.
Located in the village of Tong Fuk on South Lantau Island, the Lower Primary campus of Lantau International School (Primary 1-3) offers English-medium instruction under the British Curriculum with regular Mandarin lessons. The campus enjoys a tranquil setting near beach and greenery, allowing children to benefit from outdoor play and physical education next to the village’s football pitch. Class sizes are capped at 24 students, and all learning materials are provided at no extra cost. Children access the campus easily via dedicated school buses or public transport from Tung Chung. The Principal, James Lambert, and his teaching team emphasise foundational skills, daily reading and friendly teacher-student interactions. With strong transport links, beach-side play space and a curriculum trusted by expatriate families, the Tong Fuk campus is suited for families relocating to Hong Kong who value a smaller-scale primary environment in a natural island location.
