Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The French International School of Hong Kong (FIS) was founded in 1963 by a group of French-speaking families to provide education for both expatriate and local children. Over time, the school expanded to serve students of more than 45 nationalities across multiple campuses. The Jardine’s Lookout Campus opened in the early 1980s to accommodate the growing number of Primary students, offering both the French and International Streams. The school operates as a non-profit association, overseen by a parent-elected board and supported by the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger (AEFE), which ensures the French Stream adheres to the national curriculum of France.

Community

The Jardine’s Lookout Campus is part of a diverse community. Community events such as the FIS Family Fun Fair, international festivals, and cultural celebrations foster connections among families from both streams. The school also promotes environmental awareness through sustainability initiatives and student-led projects that bring together the wider FIS community.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parent participation is coordinated through the French International School Community Association (FISCA), which plays an active role in organising social and charitable events across all campuses. FISCA hosts activities such as the Uniform and Book Fair, Meet & Greet breakfasts, and quiz nights that bring families together. The association also supports campus-specific events at Jardine’s Lookout, including seasonal celebrations and community gatherings. Parents volunteer through committees or class groups, with flexible opportunities to assist during events or ongoing projects. FISCA’s efforts focus on building strong connections between families, teachers, and staff in the school’s bilingual community.

The Jardine’s Lookout Campus of the French International School serves Primary-aged students in both the French and International Streams. Located at 34 Price Road in a peaceful residential area on Hong Kong Island, the campus provides dedicated facilities including a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, auditorium, and library. Students in the French Stream (CP – CM2) follow the official French national curriculum, while those in the International Stream (Years 2 – 6) study through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) taught in English. The campus will expand in 2026/27 to include CE1–CM2 and Years 3–7, offering continuity for primary education. Language learning is central, with French and Mandarin taught across both streams. With around 740 students and 100 staff, Jardine’s Lookout provides a diverse, bilingual environment supported by the school’s active community and strong links to its sister campuses in Chai Wan, Tseung Kwan O, and Blue Pool Road.
