Maryknoll Convent School (Primary Section) began as a kindergarten for 12 children in the Maryknoll Sisters' parlor at 103 Austin Road on 11 February 1925. A proper campus at the Waterloo Road–Boundary Street corner was completed in 1937 and opened to about 400 students. The school suspended in 1941 during World War II and reopened on 8 January 1946 after repairs. In 1961 the secondary section moved to its own building on 5 Ho Tung Road, adjacent to the primary section, enabling the Primary Section to expand. From 1992 governance and sponsorship evolved: the MCS Educational Trust was established, the Primary Section became a whole-day school in 1997, the MCS Foundation took sponsorship in 2005, and the main building was declared a monument in 2008; the school celebrated its centenary in 2025.
Maryknoll Day in October fosters connection with Maryknoll's history through talks, activities, and a centenary letter-writing project, with input from staff, alumni, and Sr. Betty Ann. All Saints Day Mass is observed on campus, bringing together Fr Daniel Kim, students, and staff to honour the Maryknoll Sisters and the Catholic tradition. In 2025, Centenary Mass on February 11 and a Centenary Open House on February 16 engaged thousands of Maryknollers and the wider community in celebrating 100 years.
The MCSPS PTA was established in 2000. It consists of nine ordinary members and eight ex-officio members. The PTA's leadership for 2025–2026 includes Chairperson Ms. Athena Tso, Vice-Chairperson Ms. Vilian Sum, and ex-officio Member Ms. Ada Chan, with officers covering roles such as Treasurer, Secretaries, Academic Officer, Recreation Officer, Liaison Officer, and General Affairs Officer. The PTA's mission is to foster a strong partnership between parents, teachers and the school to support student learning and well-being; advocate for the needs and interests of students, parents and teachers; promote community involvement through events, workshops, and volunteer opportunities; facilitate effective communication; and raise funds for school programs and improvements. The PTA maintains channels such as a Newsletter and a PTA Channel for communication and operates through the school office to engage families.
