Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section) offers a wide range of clubs and activities across six categories: academic groups, interest groups, performing arts groups, religious groups, sports teams, and service groups. The Student Association provides leadership opportunities and cultural exchange through events such as joint-school leadership training programmes, local exchanges, Maryknoll's Got Talent, and the annual funfair. The school operates Form 1 and Form 4 Extended Learning Programmes (ELP) designed to foster holistic development, with emphasis on reflective thinking and self-management. STEAM Education focuses on real-world problem solving and inquiry, with activities organized outside the classroom to extend learning across STEAM disciplines.

Arts and Creative

The Clubs and Teams framework includes a performing arts category that supports drama and music activities. Joint-school events feature drama performances and Chinese Orchestra concerts. These arts activities provide platforms for students to showcase talents during school events and competitions. Maryknoll's Student Association also runs events like Maryknoll's Got Talent as part of arts engagement.

Cultural and Language

Cultural and language activities are fostered through language clubs, cultural societies, and exchange programs coordinated by the Student Development team. A Joint-school Exchange Programme with Wah Yan College Kowloon occurred in 2025, enabling students to attend lessons at partner schools and participate in joint activities. The school runs local exchanges and cultural events that promote cross-cultural understanding, with platforms for student expression such as Maryknoll's Got Talent and other cultural events.

Social and Hobbies

Clubs and Teams span six categories, including academic, interest, performing arts, religious, sports, and service groups, offering social and hobby-based activities. Inter-house events such as Cheering Competition, Dodgeball, Cookery Contest, and Talent Quest foster peer connections and mentorship across forms. Joint-school events and student-led activities provide informal gatherings for pursuing personal interests, while service groups offer opportunities to engage with the community.

Community and Service

Community service and volunteering are promoted through religious and moral education activities, including Catholic Week, donation drives, and volunteer work led by the Catholic Society. Service groups within the clubs framework undertake outreach and social responsibility initiatives. Pastoral care and guidance, including counselling, support students' community service and wellbeing. Leadership structures such as the Prefect Board coordinate service and community activities.

Leadership and Professional

Student leadership is fostered through the Student Association, which coordinates leadership training and joint activities. The Prefect Board provides leadership training and serves as role models for peers. The Careers and Life Planning Committee supports career development and mentoring opportunities. Mentoring and professional skill-building opportunities are offered through school programmes and events such as mentorship gatherings.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Inter-school sports events and school sports teams promote physical fitness. A recent inter-school swimming competition demonstrates active participation. Counselling and pastoral care services support students' mental health and wellbeing. Character Education activities and the Prefect Board cultivate resilience, healthy relationships, and personal growth.
