Maryknoll Convent School opened on 11 February 1925 with 12 students in the convent parlour at 103 Austin Road, under Sr Mary Paul. It moved to 248 Prince Edward Road in 1931, and in 1937 a new campus at Waterloo Road became the main site. World War II interrupted operations in 1941 when the Sisters left Hong Kong, and the school reopened in 1945. In 1960 the secondary section moved to 5 Ho Tung Road, while the primary section remained at Waterloo Road, and in 2008 the Main Building was declared a Hong Kong Declared Monument. Governance and sponsorship evolved through the late 20th and early 21st centuries with the Maryknoll Student Association established in 1967, a Staff Council in 1971, the MCS Educational Trust in 1992, the PTA in 2001–02, and the MCS Foundation becoming the sponsoring body in 2005, with the centenary celebrated in 2025.
The Maryknoll Convent School Secondary Section community brings together current students, alumnae, parents, and staff who engage in ongoing activities and events throughout the year. The Centenary Open House in 16 February 2025 and the Centenary Relay for Love 3.0 in April 2025 showed the breadth of participation across generations. Religious and service activities underpin the community, with regular Masses, pilgrimages, and charity work coordinated by student groups such as the Catholic Society and Legion of Mary. The PTA engages families in school life through events and programs that connect home and school.
The Maryknoll Convent School Secondary Section PTA coordinates parent–teacher–student collaboration and is based at 5 Ho Tung Road; its contact is pta.mcsss.hk@gmail.com. The PTA runs AGM meetings and a range of activities including religious and cultural events, workshops, and family programs (e.g., Ba Ma Day, a Christmas Party, Parent Breakfast gatherings, and Love for Bunnies: parent-child volunteer days). It also supports events such as the Jubilee Pilgrimage and Movie Nights and hosts activities like a Chinese Painting Workshop. Ba Ma Day is one of the PTA's signature events, with activities held in 2024 and 2025.
Maryknoll Convent School (Secondary Section) is an aided girls' school located at 5 Ho Tung Road in Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The Secondary Section sits on the same Kowloon Tong campus as the Primary Section (primary at Waterloo Road) and moved to 5 Ho Tung Road in 1960 to accommodate increasing student numbers. The school follows a six-year, Form 1–Form 6 curriculum under a school-based curriculum framework designed to align with the Hong Kong education system and to support a seamless transition from junior to senior secondary education. English is the primary language of instruction for most subjects, with Chinese language taught as part of the core program. The school offers a broad range of co-curricular activities, including leadership opportunities through the Student Association, performing arts ensembles (e.g., choir and orchestra), and service-oriented clubs; it also participates in joint-school exchanges and competitions. The principal is Meimei Chan (as of August 2025).
