Languages taught include English, Chinese (taught in Chinese as the Chinese Language subject, Cantonese), and Putonghua (Mandarin) as a separate course. English is the medium of instruction for Mathematics, General Studies, and most other subjects; Chinese (Cantonese) is used for Chinese Language lessons; Putonghua is taught as a dedicated subject. The curriculum covers the primary grades P.1–P.6. Additional language support for non-native Chinese speakers is provided through bridging/after-school programmes and a school-based Chinese Language curriculum.

The school was founded in 1891 by Ellis Kadoorie as the Ellis Kadoorie School for Indians. The Primary School has occupied the original premises since the secondary section moved to West Kowloon in 1999. The campus serves Primary 1–6 in a whole-day English-medium program.
