St. Stephen’s College Preparatory School was founded in 1938 as a feeder primary school for St. Stephen’s College, established in 1903. The school’s early years were interrupted during World War II, and it reopened in 1947. SSCPS operates under the Anglican Church (Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui) and continues to share close ties with its sister secondary school. Over the decades, it has expanded its facilities, adding new academic buildings and an auditorium in 2008, followed by further development projects in 2016.
The SSCPS community is built around student participation in school events, music, sports, and ethics programmes. Annual highlights include the LEAP (Life Education Activity Programme), Ethics Education Programme, and regular performances by the school orchestra and choirs. Students also participate in inter-school competitions and community outreach activities during the Grade 6 boarding year. The school regularly publishes updates on its website about community involvement, student achievements, and cultural celebrations.
SSCPS maintains an active Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) that supports collaboration among families and school staff. The PTA assists in organising community and cultural activities, such as orientation events, family gatherings, and school festivals. It also contributes to welfare projects and supports school improvement initiatives when needed. The PTA serves as a bridge between parents and the administration, ensuring consistent communication and involvement in school life. Specific annual events and activities vary from year to year, as noted in the school’s PTA news section.
