The school is an EMI school providing a diversified curriculum and aims for biliterate and trilingual proficiency. The English curriculum blends the local syllabus with English Literature to support students planning to study overseas. Co-curricular Activities include Subject Clubs & Teams such as Debate and Public Speaking (Chinese, English), Robotic Team, Minecraft Team, Math Elite Team, and Science Club. School Teams cover a broad range of sports, including Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cross-country, Fencing, Football, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball.
Arts and creative activities include Choir (Music), Instruments Class (Music), Handbell (Music), Creative Art Team, and Procreate. Drama is offered in Chinese and English, and there are language-based clubs such as French Club. Non-subject based arts activities include Photography, International Film Appreciation, and Guitar Club, among others. The co-curricular program supports artistic skill development through performance and visual arts.
Japanese, French and German are available as third language options. The school's English curriculum integrates literature to support global study, and some Chinese classes may be taught in Putonghua if needed. Extensive support is provided for non-Chinese speaking students, including special English sections for courses taught in Chinese, Chinese language and cultural activities, and simultaneous interpretation for talks conducted in languages other than English. Putonghua-enabled Chinese offerings may be used when appropriate to student needs.
A wide range of non-academic clubs and activities is offered, including Chess Club, Board & Card Games, Photography, Diving Club, GO Club, Kendama, and Mission Dance. School Teams cover Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cross-country, Fencing, Football, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball, providing inter-school competition opportunities. Inter-school competitions are encouraged, and students may take on leadership roles within clubs. These activities help students develop social skills and pursue diverse interests.
Global Perspectives include covenanted sister-school relations with Australia, South Korea, and Mainland China, with exchange students from Denmark, Norway, Italy and Germany. Short-term scholarships for exchanges to Australia, Germany and South Korea are available, and annual mission and study tours broaden international exposure. Mission & Service activities integrate service experiences at multiple levels, including local and international projects, and a dedicated Mission and Service Team empowers student leaders to drive response to social needs. These experiences connect academic study with community engagement.
The Student Council provides formal student leadership opportunities, with roles such as Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, and additional directors for promotions, welfare and events. Helios, the student leadership body, organizes campus events (roadshows, dances, relays) and hosts experiences like the KE Water Festival, KE Lunar New Year Fair, and a High Table Dinner. A three-stage support system supports freshmen, guides Form 3–4 subject choices, and assists HKDSE candidates with planning and inter-school preparation. The Prefect Team and other leadership structures are part of student governance and development.
Since 2009, all S.1 students participate in a structured semi-boarding program, with boarders returning on weekends or holidays; S.2–S.6 may apply for dormitory spaces when available. Dorm life provides daily routines, mentorship, and activities that foster self-discipline, independence, and strong study habits, with pastoral care from dorm parents. Community life includes mass games, board games, and social events such as etiquette trainings and alumni sharing. Habits like time management, responsibility, empathy, and respect are reinforced in dorm and carried into school and home.
United Christian College (Kowloon East), established in 2003, is a co-educational Christian secondary school in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong, operating under the Direct Subsidy Scheme. The medium of instruction is English, and the school offers both the HKDSE curriculum (with core subjects and a wide range of electives) and a Non-Local Curriculum option (GCE IAL / A-Level) for senior students. The school provides practical and modern facilities, including a dormitory block (used for semi-boarding, especially for new students), STEAM / robotics labs, block scheduling classrooms, and a school church for pastoral and spiritual care.
