1. Eligibility: If you are older than 6 years and of school age, you may submit an application for admission to the Austrian-Hungarian European School Budapest. German, Hungarian and English are taught here. The school notes that most children can learn two or three languages almost as well as their mother tongue. Applicants should expect a bilingual learning environment.
2. Deadline and current status: The deadline for 1st-grade admission for the 2026/27 school year was February 15, 2026. Applications for the upcoming school year are no longer accepted. At present, admission is only possible for transfer entrants. For more information, contact the secretariat.
3. Later entry: Not only first graders can enroll; entry is possible later, for example from grade 5, but the student must already have good German language knowledge. The school aims for effective participation in the bilingual program. Entry is contingent on language ability and fit with the program. Further details are available from the secretariat.
4. Admission interview: The admission interview is not a test; there are no grades and no questions to prepare for. It consists of playful exercises, and children do not need to know German. Experienced teachers will assess whether the expectations of the bilingual school fit your child. The process emphasizes suitability and comfort with the learning environment.
5. Contact and data processing: For further questions contact the secretariat; the secretaries speak Hungarian, German and English. Data processing information related to admissions is provided in two documents.
