Britannica International School is inclusive and operates a SEND policy. Learning support is provided by a SENDCo and learning support staff, with access to external professionals as needed. Students with SEND are identified through multiple channels, and Individual Education Plans may be devised for selected students. Admission is not refused on SEND grounds if the school can meet the needs. SEND covers cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, communication needs, and sensory/physical needs.
French, German and Spanish are taught by specialist native-speaking teachers. Hungarian is taught across the school. English as an Additional Language (EAL) is provided by a team of qualified teachers to support language development.
Mental health is included in the welfare aims of safeguarding; the school provides pastoral care and on-site support, including an on-site counsellor and a wellbeing/learning coordinator to support student wellbeing.
The Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy aims to safeguard and promote the welfare, health and safety of pupils. Designated Safeguarding Leads (including the Principal and Heads of Primary and Secondary, plus a Deputy DSL) oversee safeguarding; staff receive training. The policy supports online safety, early help and inter-agency cooperation, and uses formal procedures to record and respond to concerns.
