History

Golden Jubilee celebrated in 1912, marking the school's growth since inception. Robert Stanes was awarded the Kaiser-I-Hind medal in 1914 and was knighted in 1920. To support a holistic education with a strong emphasis on sports, the main block's foundation was laid on 23 September 1927 by the Governor General of Madras, Viscount Goschen. The school has long been noted as an Anglo-Indian Protestant Evangelical institution where the Word of God is read and taught daily, with the motto Excelsa Sequar (Aim for the Highest) and the masthead 'To God be the Glory'. In 2012 the school celebrated its Sesquicentennial year, and in 2022 it marked its Post Centennial Diamond Jubilee; Cambridge Early Years was introduced for the Nursery in 2024 with Cambridge International Education affiliation IA 602.

Community

Heritage Club promotes awareness of culture, history and heritage of India and other heritage cities around the world. Its vision is to create a student community that values and protects our environment/heritage, and its mission is to sensitize, influence and protect the heritage of our region for an ecologically sustainable future. The club's activities include Power Point presentations on historical places and monuments, making films on culture and heritage, learning a craft, training museum guides, heritage walks, museum visits and conservation, and children's programs at heritage festivals. The Heritage Club was inaugurated in the Nalanda Seminar Hall on 9 March 2022 at 3.00 pm.

Stanes Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, situated on a 25-acre campus in the center of Coimbatore, has been operating since its founding by Sir Robert Stanes in 1862.
