Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

The school has classes from VI to XII and offers admissions in Classes VI, VII and XI only, subject to the availability of seats. The new academic session begins in March end/April each year. Age at start of the session is: Class VI 10½–12 years; Class VII 11½–13 years; Class VIII 12½–14 years; Class IX 13½–15 years; Class X 14½–16 years; Class XI 15½–17 years; Class XII 16½–18 years. The lower age limit for admission to Class VI is 10½ on 1 April of the joining year; correlation of age and class is an essential requirement. Procedure for registration: online application via the Admissions tab, payment, and receipt of an application number by email; return to the Registration Process and enter the application number; complete the online registration form with accurate information and upload scans of documents (birth certificate, Aadhar card and passport); pay the non‑refundable registration fee; you will receive a confirmatory email. The school will contact you by email in the year the ward is to appear for the Aptitude/Proficiency Assessment; registration does not guarantee admission. Aptitude/Proficiency Assessment comprises Round 1 for VI & VII in August/September at centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Dehradun; Round 2 is an in‑person interaction in Dehradun; offers depend on the results of the interaction and the number of vacancies. Some preference is given to: daughters of government officials and serving armed forces personnel; girls whose mothers studied at Welham or who have completed Class XII there; siblings who have studied or are currently studying at the school (no preference for Class XI candidates). Documents required at admission include the Original Birth Certificate; Transfer Certificate and Character Certificate; Medical Certificate; three recent passport photographs; Migration Certificate (for Class XI if not from the CISCE). Re-registration for Classes VI & VII is year‑specific; re-registration incurs an additional fee and a fresh registration number. If a child has not cleared the Assessment or registration has lapsed, re‑registration must be completed within one year; otherwise full registration fees apply. Eligibility for Class XI registration requires a minimum average of 70% in all examinations conducted by the school; this is a prerequisite to appear for the Aptitude Assessment; selected students join in April after completing their Board examinations; mandatory documents include the Board Mark sheet, Pass certificate, Migration Certificate (if not from the ICSE Board) and Transfer Certificate. The registration fee is Rs. 20,000 and is non‑transferable and non‑refundable. The school is affiliated to the CISCE and has classes VI–XII.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The school offers several Scholarships each year to deserving students studying at Welham Girls' School. Scholarships are available on applications received from parents and are decided on the basis of means cum merit. Scholarship amounts are decided after assessing the combined income of the parents and are awarded after the scholarship committee has scrutinized all relevant documents. Scholarships cover a substantial portion of the school fees. Parents of students aspiring to join the school in the coming year may also apply for a scholarship. Scholarships are revised annually and fresh applications need to be submitted each year. Parents wishing to apply for a Scholarship must request the necessary form from the school every year.
