Dormitories are housed in large and airy buildings divided among the five Houses to develop belonging and team spirit. Junior and Senior girls have separate hostels. Each House is an autonomous unit under the care of a House Mistress and a Matron.
Uniforms are affectionately marked with 'tadpoles'.
Meals are supervised by the Mess staff and provide a balanced diet with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Pork and Beef are not served. Cuisines from India and other parts of the world are regularly featured. Fresh fruit, vegetables and milk are provided daily. Extra or special diet is provided on the doctor's recommendation. Teachers and students eat together at the table, and the Mess Committee includes both staff and students.
Five Houses named after birds found on campus: Bulbul, Flycatcher, Hoopoe, Oriole and Woodpecker. House Captains and Student Officials are chosen for leadership. The Houses compete on the sports field and in activities such as art, dance, music, debating, quizzing and dramatics. The dormitories are divided among the five Houses, with Junior and Senior girls in separate hostels.
The school is governed by a Board of Governors. Welham Girls' School Society is involved in its governance. The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE).
Welham Girls' School in Dehradun is a residential, all-girls school offering classes VI to XII. It follows a dual curriculum with the Indian Curriculum (ICSE/ISC) and Cambridge IGCSE, with English as the medium of instruction and Hindi given emphasis along with a third language option in middle school. The academic year runs March to February. The school prepares learners for ICSE/ISC examinations and Cambridge assessments. Facilities include a spacious library and e-source centre, Wi‑Fi-enabled classrooms, and well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, History, Geography and Home Science.
