Admissions

Admissions

1. Non-Selective Admission Policy: CADMUS International School – Duhok is highly academically oriented without being highly selective. The criterion for acceptance in a class is academic attainment, not age. Although age acts as a limiting factor, a three-year age range can be found in the same class. In general, any student willing to learn is accepted. 2. Placement Overview: There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Kindergarten (3 to 5 years). Prospective students at these levels are interviewed; they must be toilet-trained and able to speak and follow simple instructions. All other prospective students take diagnostic tests in the core subjects to determine if they have attained the minimum standard for each subject. The school then makes final placement decisions and can resort to strategies such as summer school or extra classes to help bring a student to the required level. Special academic support is taken very seriously by the school. 3. Enrollment Process: The admission process is intended to be personal and informative for all prospective families. There is no application deadline, but it is recommended that the admission process be initiated early. Applications are accepted on a space-available basis throughout the school year. A joining fee is payable to initiate the admission process and cover administrative costs. Along with the student application form, a copy of identity card or passport, two passport photographs, and the final school report from the previous school are required. 4. Testing: Students applying to enter Grades 2 and above sit for diagnostic tests as part of the admission process. Upon completion, the diagnostic tests are marked and a placement decision is made by the school. Appointments for diagnostic testing can be arranged via email at info@cadmusduhok.sabis.net or by calling +964 750 5444 222. 5. Admission Decisions: Admission decisions are made after careful evaluation of the candidates. Results of diagnostic testing and previous school records are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional criteria for admission include motivation, social and emotional development, willingness to work hard, and the ability of CADMUS International School – Duhok to accommodate the needs of the candidate. 6. Registration: Once accepted and the required fees paid, a place for the student is reserved.
