Al Sanad School Japan began as a community effort in Tokyo to start a school that would help Muslim children keep their identity, initially named YUAI International Islamic School. The early years faced financial constraints and numerous challenges as the curriculum and operations were developed. In December 2022, the group found a site, negotiated with the owner, and, with support from Allah, Al Razq, and other donors, secured the funds to establish the new campus and named it Al Sanad School. A six‑month payment plan was arranged to complete the purchase, marking a major milestone in the school's development. By April 2024, as they approached their seventh year, they were hopeful that accreditation would bring long‑term quality and continuity for the community.
The Al Sanad School Japan community is active and engaged, with events that bring students, families, and staff together. The School Life blog notes an annual Sports Day where students, teachers, and parents participate in a range of activities, fostering teamwork and community spirit. The school also hosts cultural celebrations, such as Eid Mubarak, where parent volunteers contribute food and decorations, enhancing the festive atmosphere. The community also celebrates student achievements, such as Sara's acceptance to Kanazawa University, highlighting the school's supportive environment for its students. A June 2025 Parents' Workshop, led by Eman-sensei, bridged medicine and the Qur'an and was attended by Yuai and Al Sanad parents, focusing on balanced parenting with faith and knowledge. Parents contribute to school celebrations, including Eid Mubarak, with food, decorations, and hospitality, reflecting strong parent participation in cultural events. The Eid celebration demonstrated close collaboration between families and staff to create a festive, inclusive atmosphere. The school's School Life blog also highlights ongoing parent‑focused events and family engagement, such as sports days and related activities, underscoring the school's commitment to community involvement. Sports Day, which involves both students and parents, further showcases the emphasis on community participation.
Al Sanad School Japan is located at 2 Chome-3-1 Haracho, with the school noting access from Shinden/Dokkyo Station, approximately 8 minutes by bus or 30 minutes on foot. The school offers education from Primary School starting at age 6 and continues into secondary education, including IGCSE and A Level programmes, with Cambridge examination fees referenced in its official fee documents. Daily routines include a scheduled morning tahfiz session. The school also states that clubs are offered alongside the academic programme. Al Sanad School Japan organises structured academic activities such as an English Internal Competition, with separate categories for primary and secondary students. For older students, the school also describes providing overseas opportunities, including a study tour and Umrah trip, as part of its broader educational activities.
