Facilities Overview

New Life International School (NLIS) in Kofu, Yamanashi, uses an American curriculum and provides facilities that support both academics and student life. The campus features a library program with visits to the nearby prefectural library every other Friday and on-site classroom lending libraries for in-class borrowing. Academic facilities include science labs and computer labs; a computer is available for every student in Grades 2–8 in the classroom, and high school students bring their own devices. The arts program covers Art, Music, and Drama with regular instruction and student performances, supported by technology resources and a robotics offering. The school offers online Advanced Placement courses through Sevenstar Academy and provides a broad range of co-curricular activities and field-based learning experiences.

Sports Facilities

Recess is held in the park, gym, or outdoor play areas. Physical Education for Grades 7–12 includes basketball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis. The program supports active spaces for these activities and uses the on-site gym and outdoor areas for regular PE and sports activities.

Academic Facilities

Science education emphasizes hands-on labs across grade levels. Grades 1–3 use McRuffy STEAM; Grades 4–6 use BJU Science with labs; Grades 7–8 use Kesler Science, and high school offers Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics with labs in all courses. The library program includes visits to the prefectural library every other Friday and on-site classroom lending libraries. Every student in Grades 2–8 has a classroom computer, with Grades 9–12 using personal devices. Advanced Placement courses are delivered online through Sevenstar Academy.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Robotics Club supports junior high and high school students. Electives for secondary students include Drama, Art, Photography, Home Economics, Introduction to Psychology, and Sculpture. After-school offerings include ESL, JSL, EIKEN classes, and after-school care; Japanese classes and tutoring services are available for non-native speakers. NLIS hosts a variety of special activities and events, such as class parties, field trips, Sports Day, and events like an Art & Science Fair and an Asahi Festival performance; all students participate in community singing at the Asahi Fall Festival.

New Life International School (NLIS) is an English-based Christian school in Kofu, located in Asahi and about a 10-minute walk north of Kofu Station. The school follows an American curriculum and integrates biblical values into daily learning. Its curriculum is guided by recognized U.S. standards such as Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. NLIS provides a computer for every student in Grades 3–8 for classroom use and includes Japanese classes four days a week (with a Japanese-for-Foreigners track aligned to JLPT preparation). In high school (Grades 9–12), students can take Advanced Placement (AP) or honors courses online through SevenStar Academy with on-campus proctoring, and they complete a 50-hour service learning requirement before graduation.
