Phoenix House International School was established in 2021 as Tokyo's British Prep School, offering England's National Curriculum to children aged 5 to 11 and located in central Tokyo. The school operates as an independent prep school under Clarence Education Asia Limited, the organization behind its Tokyo campus. It was awarded COBIS Beacon Status for Safeguarding and Student Welfare, becoming the first school in Japan to receive Beacon Status. In 2024 Phoenix House joined FOBISIA after inspection and has since gained membership in the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS), underscoring its international accreditation framework.
Phoenix House's community is organized around four Houses—Snowdon, Rothesay, Windsor and Oak—promoting collaboration across age levels and leadership through House Captains; a House Cup is awarded on Speech Day. Enrichment programmes include daily clubs in sports, arts, tech, and music, with private music lessons available and a strong emphasis on performing arts. The Great Outdoors offers North Peak Enrichment Campus trips to Hokkaido, as well as weekly Tokyo outdoor activities such as Mountain Day hikes and Hanami picnics at the Imperial Palace grounds. Performing arts and public speaking are supported by LAMDA examinations and the Rising Star Award, which recognize achievement and build confidence.
Phoenix House International School does not publicly document a separate Parent Teacher Association (PTA) on its site. The governance of the school is led by a School Board of Directors, including a Representative Director, several Directors, and the Head of School Fei-Fei Hu, Ayahi Suda, Kentaro Nanri, Ziver Ölmez, and Claire Fletcher. Parent engagement is supported through the For Parents section, which includes term dates, the school uniform shop, and school lunch, and through admissions communications such as Open Day and school tours. Open days and visits are coordinated under Visit Us and Admissions, with direct contact available for inquiries. The Board and School Policies pages provide governance and community guidance for families. There is no dedicated PTA page listed, but community life is fostered through the House System (Speech Day and House activities) and a range of parent-facing communications.
