Daily life details and school culture

Boarding Arrangements

Tokyo International School offers a student housing option in partnership with Tokyo Student-House (TSH) and Itochu. The school does not operate the housing; families are referred to a trusted independent provider that supports safety and wellbeing. The accommodation is about 20 minutes from the campus and includes a dedicated school bus; meals are provided as daily breakfast and dinner, with weekends and national holidays self-catered. Availability is limited and not guaranteed.

Uniform Requirement

Lower school students wear a school uniform; uniform items and colours are available for purchase through the online shop Top of the Class. Upper school students follow a smart casual dress code. The uniform guide lists specific pieces (e.g., polo shirts, skirts/shorts, and house T-shirts) and purchasing details through Top of the Class.

Food Options

Lunch is not provided by a school cafeteria. Lunch can be brought from home or ordered from a catering service (Kiwi Kitchen) delivered to the classroom; TIS does not have a cafeteria.

Governance and Ownership

The school identifies as a non-profit institution, with funding reinvested into the school. This non-profit status is noted by external listings and the school's own communications.

Tokyo International Public School (TIPS) is an English-medium school in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, with campuses in Nishi-Kasai and Naka-Kasai. It offers a Montessori kindergarten program for children in K1 (ages 3–4) and K2/K3 (ages 4–6), with learning goals that include early literacy, numeracy foundations, social development and hands-on skill-building. For primary years, TIPS provides a Cambridge Primary program for Grade 1 to Grade 5. The school says it aims to connect Japanese and international communities through its English-medium approach. The school also notes that the Nishi-Kasai campus is an approved facility for government-related subsidies for eligible kindergarten-aged children, with subsidy amounts depending on the local ward.
