Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

LFIA traces its origins to 1950 when a small school was established in Jabal Amman. It evolved into the Lyce9e Frane7ais de2Amman and later became the Lyce9e Frane7ais International de2Amman (LFiA) within the AEFE network. The school operates under an agreement with the Jordanian Ministry of Education, ensuring recognition and enabling students to continue their studies in Jordan and abroad. The history page notes the creation of the school in 1950 and outlines its path within the AEFE framework, including a two-campus structure (the primary Deir Ghbar site and the secondary campus along the airport road). In recent years, the school celebrated its 50th anniversary and currently enrolls more than 620 students from diverse nationalities.

Community

LFIA maintains an active school community with a range of events and activities. Family engagement is evident in events such as Environment and Climate Month, the Primary School Race, and World Arabic Language Day, highlighted in the schools newsletters. The school also maintains an LFIA Alumni network to connect former students with current life and events at the school. The institution offers more than thirty extracurricular activities, including sports and arts, many through AEFE partnerships, supporting a multilingual and inclusive community.

Parent-Teacher Association

There is no publicly documented formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA) on the LFIA site. Parental involvement appears to be organized through school communications and the LFiA Alumni network, which connects current families with alumni events and activities. The site publishes a regular newsletter (for example LFiA-news Nb072, 2025-12-19) that highlights events and opportunities for family participation. A Well-being and Personal Development Manager role is advertised, signaling a focus on student welfare and family engagement. The LFiA Alumni network provides a platform for parents and former students to stay connected and contribute to school events. The school also highlights AEFE-supported programs that involve families in school life through events and trips.

Located in Amman, Lycée Français International d'Amman (LFIA) operates campuses: a primary campus at 13 Al-Iftikhar Street, Deir Ghbar, and a secondary campus on Al-Yadoodeh, Airport Road. The school provides uninterrupted education from nursery (TPS) to Terminale, with an age range of 2–18. It delivers the French national curriculum approved by the French Ministry of National Education, with teachers seconded from France or trained under AEFE-accredited programs. The campus emphasizes multilingual learning: French, Arabic, English, Spanish and German are taught by specialist teachers, and students may sit recognised exams such as Cambridge, IELTS, DELE and CIMA. The Jordanian Ministry of Education recognizes the school, and French baccalaureate is recognised as equivalent to the Jordanian Tawjihi. The school is AEFE-affiliated, enabling continuity of study in Jordan, France and AEFE countries. A digital workspace and training support teachers, students and parents. The school offers over thirty extracurricular activities, including sports and arts.
