Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Mayar International Schools were established in Amman, Jordan, in 2011 to provide a nurturing environment and to offer national and international curricula. The schools serve more than 2,000 students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and operate under a governance structure led by a Board of Directors. The institution is a member of the Sadeen Group. Cognia accreditation has supported Mayar's focus on overall quality and continuous improvement since its early years.

Community

The Mayar community includes an active PTA led by Dr. Nadia Kharbat as PTA President/General Director, with officers such as the Vice-President and Treasurer, and the Girls School Principal as a PTA member. The organization describes a tripartite partnership among families, the school, and students to improve the educational environment. The school hosts after-school activities that culminate in student showcases attended by parents, including robotics, ballet, and karate. Cultural and language events are part of the calendar, such as La Dictée de Mayar 2026, and the school participates in broader educational events like Cognia's IMPACT Conference.

Parent-Teacher Association

The PTA functions as a formal body that engages families in school life, emphasizing collaboration among families, the school, and students to improve the educational environment. PTA leadership includes President/General Director Dr. Nadia Kharbat, Vice-President Mr. Ziad Hammouri, Treasurer Mrs. Rasha Betar, and other officers such as the Head of Development and Training Department, the Girls School Principal, and the Head of Counseling Department. The PTA holds elections for the 2025/2026 academic year to appoint its leadership, reflecting an organized governance role within the school. PTA activities and development roles are integrated with school planning and student welfare initiatives.
