Boarding, Uniform and Food

Daily life details and school culture

Uniform Requirement

Uniform is mandatory and must be worn with pride. The uniform details are provided in a Code of Conduct booklet. Uniform compliance is recognised in the NES house system and contributes to House Points.

Food Options

NES operates an on-site cafeteria with food handling supervised by the school's medical team. There is an emphasis on healthy lunch boxes, and the policy discourages fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolates.

House System

NES has four houses: Aqaba, Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum. Students are assigned to a house on entry, with families and siblings placed in the same house. House Points are awarded for positive behaviour and participation, including for uniform and language use, and a range of house events throughout the year.

Governance and Ownership

NES is governed by a Board of Governors, which is the highest authority in the school's organisation. The board has 10 members and oversees progress and strategy; it meets three to four times a year and delegates day-to-day work to four subcommittees. The school is described as a private, coeducational institute.
