NES follows the Cambridge international curriculum, including Checkpoints, IGCSE and AS/A-levels. The Cambridge Primary Programme is used in the Primary years, and the English National Curriculum with the Cambridge framework is adopted in the Early Years (Years 1–2) with English as the language of instruction. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, with skills such as analysing, reasoning, evaluating, problem solving and decision making, and uses learning through play to support development in the early years. The school also incorporates the Finnish Education System as a complementary element in the Early Years.
The school places emphasis on arts education, with programs in art, music and drama. A fully equipped theatre seats more than 300 and includes drama, dance and music studios to support performances and productions. The arts are visible across the school's curricular and co-curricular activities. The theatre and arts facilities are designed to support assemblies, performances and creative projects.
NES has a diverse student body with 39 nationalities. The language of instruction is English, with English being the main language in the Early Years while Arabic is taught as part of the curriculum; the Early Years also follows a bilingual approach. An English Only Stream was introduced to accommodate the foreign community. The Finnish Education System is integrated into the Early Years as a complementary framework.
NES offers multiple sports clubs, including Football, Basketball, Gymnastics, Swimming and Jiu-jitsu. The school supports student leadership through the Students Council, Model United Nations and a Houses system. The Yearbook and PTA are active components of student life, providing additional extracurricular opportunities. Sports facilities, clubs and student activities are part of the overall school experience.
Community service and volunteering are integrated into the high school program, including service hours and career-related training. The program supports personal growth, career readiness and civic engagement as part of the high school experience.
Leadership development is fostered through the Students Council, MUN and the school houses system. Careers & University Counselling supports student planning and university preparation. The Upper Secondary curriculum includes IGCSE in Years 10–11 and AS/A-level courses in Years 12–13, with a range of options including AP and Pre-AP courses. The American High School Diploma (AHSD) offers a four-year path (Grades 9–12) aligned with U.S. standards and Jordanian requirements.
The school provides on-site Health Services with a medical team and periodic dental visits. The Challengers Department offers extensive therapies and support, including ABA, Flowtime DIR, an art therapy specialist, a swimming therapist and speech-language therapy, with a 3:1 teacher-to-student ratio and two full-time counsellors. The Social and Emotional Well-being focus is embedded in the school culture, emphasizing mindfulness and holistic development.
