Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The New English School was founded in 1986 as a private, coeducational institution in the West Amman suburb of Khalda, offering the British Curriculum. The campus spans 26,000 square meters of built area on 19,000 square meters of land, and the student body exceeds 1,500 students representing 39 nationalities. Approximately ten years after its founding, NES introduced an English Only Stream to provide an English medium option alongside traditional bilingual education. Since 1991 NES has been a recognized Teaching Institution and Examinations Centre accredited by Edexcel (London) and Cambridge International Examination Authorities, and it also offers the American High School Diploma through Accreditation International. NES is a member of ECIS and CIS.

Community

The New English School has a diverse student body drawn from 39 nationalities. Community life is supported by a broad program of cultural and extracurricular activities, and communications are published via the Yearbook and Newsletter. Annual events such as the Christmas holiday are highlighted on the school's events calendar. Facilities including a theatre, indoor swimming pool, laboratories and libraries support a rich, engaging campus life.

Parent-Teacher Association

A formal Parent Teacher Association is not described in publicly available NES materials. Parent input, where present, is channeled through the Board of Governors, and inquiries can be addressed to the chairman. Parental engagement is also reflected in school communications and events such as the Christmas holiday, the Yearbook and the Newsletter. The school recognizes staff and student achievements through a monthly Chairman's Award. Admissions information shows parent-facing processes and discounts, indicating ongoing parental involvement in school life. Where no PTA is listed, NES maintains parent engagement through governance channels and year-round school activities.
