Whitman Academy was founded in 1994 when three expatriate families, together with an experienced American teacher, formed a Christian international school for Third Culture Kids in Jordan. The founders named the school Roy & Dora Whitman Academy and pursued a vision of classrooms filled with creative, hands-on learning and opportunities for servant leadership that would shape young hearts to impact the world. What began with a handful of children has grown into a thriving community of 239 students in grades 1–12, representing more than 22 countries. In 2021, the school moved to a new campus, marking an important phase of development to promote excellence in learning and a nurturing community. Whitman Academy was named in loving memory of Roy and Dora Whitman, whose legacy is linked to the region's Christian educational heritage.
Whitman Academy is a Christ-centered and gospel-shaped community where regular worship times, study of the Bible, and service orientation are part of daily life. The school welcomes families from many nations who serve the people of Jordan, creating a multinational environment that fosters cross-cultural understanding. Our dedicated educators and engaged families, together with a diverse student body, are committed to supporting each learner to think deeply, lead humbly, and serve the world. Students participate in service projects, leadership development, and community engagement that extend beyond the classroom.
Whitman Academy does not publish a stand-alone Parent Teacher Association (PTA) on its site. Instead, formal engagement with families occurs through school-led events and channels that invite parent participation. A Parent Meeting held on December 20, 2025 demonstrates a mechanism for school–family partnership, inviting parents to receive updates and discuss plans for students' growth. The site also invites families to Join Our Community and to engage with the school through its family-friendly events and communications, reflecting a culture of family involvement rather than a separate PTA structure. Student life includes a Student Council for grades 7–12 that enables students to partner with school leadership on activities, while service and community-engagement programs provide opportunities for families to contribute through volunteering and support for local and international initiatives.
