The school offers STEM, robotics, and coding through specialized clubs beyond the classroom. The school provides Advanced Placement courses across many subjects, including Biology, Calculus AB, Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, Computer Science A, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Environmental Science, and European History. NorthStar Academy online courses are available in Computer Science, Health Science, and Forensic Sciences.
The Arts Program explores art, building critical thinking, visual literacy, and artistic expression. The Music Program trains students as complete musicians through performance, theory, and history; Middle School Band, Middle School General Music, Middle School Choir, and High School Band are offered. Elementary students have music classes and two concerts per year, while middle and high school students participate in concerts and chapel services.
The school offers foreign languages, including Chinese and Spanish, through a NorthStar Academy partnership. Select students may participate in East African Model United Nations. Model United Nations is a co-curricular activity where students may represent WNS at regional conferences.
The Club Programs include Ballet and Martial Arts. Beyond these clubs, students can engage with STEM, robotics, and coding through specialized clubs.
All high school students participate in community service projects throughout the year.
Student leaders are selected at the beginning of the school year to plan, lead, and promote school community events, pep rallies, school spirit activities, and fundraisers.
West Nairobi School uses Second Step and Yale University's RULER approach for social-emotional learning. Students learn to understand and manage their emotions, set goals, and build positive relationships. SEL programs promote school success, school connectedness, and a safe, respectful climate.
West Nairobi School is a private, co-educational day school in Karen, Nairobi, serving students aged 4 to 18 with a North American curriculum taught in English. The program includes American Curriculum courses with Advanced Placement, offering a broad range from Biology and Calculus AB to English Language and Composition, European History, and AP Capstone Diploma. Online courses are available through NorthStar Academy. The school is accredited by MSA-CESS and ACSI and joined the Network of International Christian Schools. The two-semester school year runs August–December and January–May/June, with two graduation tracks: College Preparatory Diploma (24 credits) and Academic Honors Diploma (27 credits).
