Established in September 2007 by the initiative of the French Embassy in Latvia. Lycée Français International Jules Verne de Riga implements the programs and practices of the French National Education and delivers intercultural education focused on multilingualism, personalized support, creative development, and 21st‑century skills. In 2011, the school joined the AEFE network. The school is managed by the association of student parents, the APECEF, and is monitored annually by AEFE inspectors.
Nathalie Justin, Head of School, notes the community welcomes more than 500 students from Toute Petite Section to Terminale and that the main campus opened in Skanstes alongside the University of Latvia. The school is a partner of the AEFE network and is part of the French public education service abroad, benefiting from accreditation by the French Ministry of National Education. The school is a non‑profit institution managed by the parents' association, APECEF. The School Council, chaired by the head of school and including classroom teachers and parent representatives, discusses the establishment project, internal rules, school calendar, extracurricular programme, parental involvement, planning and funding school trips, organization of school life, hygiene, health and safety issues, welcoming and supporting pupils with disabilities, and school meals.
The Lycée Français International Jules Verne de Riga is a non‑profit institution managed by the APECEF. The School Council is the forum for discussion between the educational community and parents. It is chaired by the head of school and comprises classroom teachers and representatives of parents. The School Council decides on the establishment project, internal rules, school schedules and calendar, the extracurricular programme, parents' involvement in school life, planning and funding school trips, organisation of school life, hygiene, health and safety issues, welcoming and supporting pupils with disabilities, and school meals. The head of school is Gaelle Barfety, supported in daily tasks by the head of primary Viviane Deregnaucourt and the chief financial officer Guna Zagorska. The School Board acts as the managing arm of the association, and members can be met here. The association is partially renewed each year.
Located in Riga, Lycée Français International Jules Verne de Riga delivers the French national education system within the AEFE network since 2011. It serves ages 2 to 17 across two sites, with a daycare service. It operates in a multilingual environment with six languages taught and supports non-French-speaking pupils through FLE and FLSCO to reach fluency by the end of primary. The curriculum follows cycles from pre-elementary through high school, leading to the Diplôme National du Brevet and the Baccalauréat (Seconde, Première, Terminale) with core subjects and chosen specialties in Première and Terminale; it also offers the Diplôme National du Brevet, DELF and Cambridge exams. Established in 2007 by the French Embassy, it is managed by APECEF and monitored annually by AEFE inspectors. Facilities include two sites and a daycare service; sports facilities with team sports; swimming via Elektrum Olympic Centre (currently suspended). Extracurriculars cover sports, arts, robotics, languages, and theatre. The choir participates in Latvia's Song and Dance Celebrations, reflecting the school's intercultural education and emphasis on 21st-century skills.
