Created in 1909 by the Mission Laïque Française, GLFL is a conventioned establishment with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). It provides instruction conforming to French and Lebanese curricula, preparing students for the Diplôme National du Brevet, the Lebanese Brevet, the French Baccalaureate, and the French International Baccalaureate (BFI). Secularism, neutrality, and tolerance are central to its educational project, and it promotes multilingual and intercultural education. GLFL is part of the MLF Lebanon network with Franco-Lebanese lycées in Habbouche-Nabattieh, Nahr Ibrahim, Tripoli, and Verdun.
The school hosts about 2,800 students from 54 nationalities. The campus has more than 12 sports facilities and a swimming pool. L'Olivier, the Little Journal of the Grand Lycée, documents student life. The Blog Du Comité Des Parents connects families with school life and events. The school also runs fundraising activities, such as a collection for the Lebanese Red Cross led by terminale students.
The Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais has a Parent Committee (Comité des Parents). The Committee maintains a dedicated blog (Blog Du Comité Des Parents) for updates and involvement in school life. It collaborates with the school on events and family engagement. It participates in fundraising activities, including Lebanese Red Cross campaigns. The PTA coordinates with families and staff to support student well-being and school programs.
The Grand Lycée Franco-Libanais (GLFL) is a Mission Laïque Française-contracted school in Lebanon, part of the MLF AEFE network. It blends the French curriculum with Lebanese programs, preparing students for the Lebanese Brevet, the Diplôme National du Brevet, the French Baccalaureate, and the French International Baccalaureate (BFI). In collège and lycée, Seconde and above follow official French programs with a Lebanese Complementary Program; the OIB is offered from Seconde, emphasising Arabic. Optional LV3 languages include Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Latin; plus Cinema-Audiovisuel and Arts Plastiques. Two hours of targeted study support, Pronote progress tracking, and an Orientation Service aid students and families. The campus hosts more than 12 sports fields and a swimming pool for around 2,700 students, with CCC libraries and tri-lingual resources enriching learning. The school fosters bilingual and intercultural understanding through projects, parental involvement, a dedicated guidance service, and a climate of respect and curiosity across classrooms.
