History

The school began as Vilniaus 47-oji vidurinė mokykla, established on April 7, 1978, by the decision of the Vilnius City Working People's Deputies Council Executive Committee No. 131. Operations began on September 1, 1978. In 1997, by Vilnius City Council decision No. 230 on March 25, 1997, the school was named Vilniaus Spindulio vidurinė mokykla. In 2001, by Vilnius City Council decision No. 276 (April 18, 2001), it was reorganized into Vilniaus Spindulio pagrindinė mokykla. On July 20, 2016, by Vilnius City Municipality decision No. 1-584, the school's structure was reorganized into Vilniaus Spindulio progimnazija. The owner is Vilniaus miesto savivaldybė; it is a budgetary institution, and the language of instruction is Lithuanian.

Community

Vilniaus pažinimo diena is an annual educational event. On May 20, 2026, Vilniaus Spindulio progimnazijos 5b and 5c classes visited Kreivoji pilis and Bernardinų sodas and engaged in activities highlighting Vilnius history and culture. The 2a class visited Vilniaus universiteto Zoologijos muziejus, and the 7a class visited Okupacijų ir laisvės kovų muziejų and the Church of St. Philip and James to learn about Lithuania's past and cultural heritage. The Vilniaus Spindulio progimnazija Parent Committee consists of five members: Giedrė Adomonytė, Marius Bulka, Božena Brazil-Cistobajeva, Ivona Sobolevskienė, and Maksimas Vilkas. The Parent Committee was approved by the progimnazijos direktorios įsakymas on 18 November 2025, No. 187. The committee works with class parent committees to organize school life; class parents' meetings are held at least twice per school year, and three parents with the most votes from each class serve as Parent Committee members. Admissions

1. Admission decisions and invitations: After the admissions committee meeting, lists of admitted and not admitted students for 1st class and for 2–4 and 6–8 classes are published. Between June 23 and June 25, 2026, parents confirm invitations received from schools in the svietimas.vilnius.lt electronic system. If invitations are not confirmed in time, at 8:00 on June 26, 2026, the invitation is automatically assigned to the school that issued it.

2. Contract and enrollment: The teaching contract must be signed no later than 10 calendar days from invitation confirmation. If the contract is not signed within the specified period and no written justification is provided to the school, the place is forfeited. Signing the contract is a required step in enrolling in the school program.

3. Remaining vacancies consideration: The next admissions committee meeting will take place on August 21, 2026, during which applications for available 1–8 class places will be considered. This meeting may result in offers for remaining vacancies.

4. Final class placement and notification: Class placement lists and homeroom teachers will be published on August 24–28, 2026, on the progimnazijos website. Parents should review the posted lists to learn their child's assigned class and homeroom teacher.
