Facilities Overview

The school operates two campuses in Luxembourg: Cessange (23, rue Verte) and Kirchberg (15, rue Léon Hengen). The Cessange campus hosts the primary program and will also welcome middle and upper primary levels, with English-speaking and French-speaking language sections and Luxembourgish integrated. A courtyard and playground are available for arrival and supervised play each day. An on-site Foyer Scolaire offers lunch and after-school care, and school transport is provided by a bus service organized by the City of Luxembourg. The EIGT library is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:10 PM, with remote access to the online catalogue via edulibrary.lu.

Sports Facilities

There is a sports hall available for indoor sports and tournaments. Football tournaments are organized in the sports hall. Sports days are held for primary and secondary students as part of the school sports programme. After-school care includes a range of sports activities. Extracurricular activities include sports as part of the after-school and lunch-break offerings.

Academic Facilities

Tailored academic support is offered with three levels: General, Moderate, and Intensive. General support is available for Language 1, Language 2, and Mathematics and can be provided during the corresponding lesson. Moderate support focuses on learning strategies and is organized in trimester phases. Intensive support is designed for students with more significant needs and is coordinated through the School Inclusion Commission. Support is tracked with objectives and progress shared with parents during February and July parent-teacher meetings. The library provides a study space with librarian assistance and online access to edulibrary.lu.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are offered during lunch breaks and after-school hours and include digital, musical, sports, and democracy education. EIGT Sports Day is held for secondary students. Football tournaments are organized on campus using the sports hall. First Lego League participation demonstrates engagement with STEM and teamwork. Europe Club visits and debates at the European Parliament are part of extracurricular life.

École internationale Gaston Thorn is a public European School in Luxembourg City, welcoming students aged 6 to 18. Opened in 2022, it operates on two campuses: the primary site at 23, Rue Verte in Cessange and the Geesseknäppchen campus in Merl (shared with ENAD). The school delivers a European School curriculum with language sections in francophone, anglophone and germanophone streams, preparing students for the Baccalaureate after seven years of secondary study.
