Fee Breakdown

Fees
Applicability and academic year
- The figures below apply to the 2025/2026 school year (use these amounts when preparing entries for the external database).

Application / registration fees
- There is no separate one-off “application fee” listed for standard enrolment; however, for Category III (fee-paying) pupils a non-refundable deposit equal to 25% of the annual school fee is required to confirm or maintain enrolment. For a first enrolment this deposit must be paid before the date set by the school; for continuing pupils it must be paid by the date set for returning pupils.

Tuition (minerval) — annual amounts by cycle (Category III pupils)
- Nursery cycle (annual): EUR 4,195.58 for Category III pupils enrolled from 2013/2014 onwards.
- Primary cycle (annual): EUR 5,768.99 for Category III pupils enrolled from 2013/2014 onwards.
- Secondary cycle (annual): EUR 7,866.79 for Category III pupils enrolled from 2013/2014 onwards.
- Alternative legacy rates apply to pupils enrolled before 2013/2014 (lower fixed amounts); separate scales apply to certain international employer categories (NAMSA/NATO/UN) — see the separate indexed rates for those groups.

Per-term / instalment detail (how the annual charge is billed)
- A deposit equal to 25% of the annual tuition is required up front. The remaining 75% is invoiced in October and must be paid within 30 days of that invoice. Parents who request instalment payment by the deadline may pay the remaining 75% in three equal instalments (25% each) on the dates set by the school (example instalment dates for 2025/26: 31 October, 31 January and 31 March). These instalments effectively divide the annual fee into quarters (25% + three 25% payments) when instalments are used.

Billing schedule and payment terms
- The deposit invoice is issued in the spring (dates differ for new and continuing pupils) and the main invoice is issued in October; the balance is due within the stated deadline or in the authorised instalments if requested by the given cut-off. Non-payment by the specified deadlines may result in the pupil being considered removed from the register and exclusion from the following school year; the deposit is non-refundable.

Sibling discounts and indexing
- For newly enrolled Category III pupils (from 2013/2014 onwards) a reduction of 20% is applied to the second child and 40% to the third (and subsequent) child from the same family. Different (older) reductions apply to pupils enrolled before 2013/2014. The minerval is indexed annually (example: indexed by 2% in the memorandum).

Boarding fees
- The European School Luxembourg I operates as a day school; no boarding facility or boarding fees are listed for this school, so boarding fees are not applicable.

Other compulsory and routine costs (examples and typical amounts invoiced with the annual bill)
- Baccalaureate registration: invoiced to all Year 7 (final-year) pupils (example: EUR 105.98 for the 2025 exam session).
- Intermath (primary mathematics books and licence): lump sum included on the invoice (example: EUR 32).
- Photocopying / printing lump sum: included on the October invoice (example amounts around EUR 30 depending on cycle and year).
- School outings / excursions (primary and nursery): a standard contribution invoiced (example: EUR 100 per child for excursions plus a class-fund contribution of about EUR 40).
- Student card / ID fees (secondary years): small one-off card fees apply for some year groups (example banding seen at EUR 4.50 to EUR 15 for certain years).
- Insurance: a small annual school insurance charge is applied to pupils (example: EUR 6.50).
- Subject-specific or course materials (e.g., Mediterranean World booklet, calculators, recommended BYOD laptop for S5–S7): parents are required to purchase specified materials or licences; modest item charges appear on the October invoice (examples: booklet EUR ~6–7; calculator and laptop costs are borne by parents).
- University application handling by the school (optional service): a fee is charged when the school processes applications on behalf of the pupil (example range: EUR 130–260 depending on country).

Refunds and cancellation rules
- Deposit: non-refundable.
- School trips and excursions: refunds are handled after final accounting of actual costs; refunds are net of any cancellation fees and only any unspent or recoverable amounts are returned. For larger trips (example threshold: over EUR 100 per pupil) cancellation insurance may be taken by the school and medical-certificate-supported cancellations may be covered subject to the insurer's terms; exclusions apply for pupil exclusion or late withdrawal.
- Changes of category or mid-year changes: where the financial category changes during the year, the minerval is calculated pro rata by the number of months concerned (one month is treated as one tenth of a school year).
- Non-payment: if school fees remain unpaid at the end of the school year the pupil may be removed from the register and denied admission for subsequent years; outstanding sums may be recovered by legal action.

Payment methods and practical arrangements
- Standard invoice payment is by bank transfer / standing order (invoices include bank details and an IBAN); the school and parents' association both provide forms for standing orders. Canteen and meal services use electronic payment cards which are reloaded online. The school issues invoices (deposit in spring; main invoice in October) and specifies payment deadlines and authorised instalment options.

Short checklist for data-entry (practical items to include in your database fields)
- Annual tuition (Category III, enrolled from 2013/14): Nursery EUR 4,195.58; Primary EUR 5,768.99; Secondary EUR 7,866.79.
