DSKL offers a two-week Work Experience Program in Year 9, with preparatory work integrated into social studies and German and English lessons; students select a placement from a school-prepared list and report on completion. A Social Traineeship runs for Years 9–11, requiring 30 hours of community service to develop social responsibility. The school provides a Higher Education & Careers Advisory Service with four pillars: individual degree and job advice, career guidance events, experiential learning through field experience, and comprehensive information materials; GEVA testing is used in Year 10 and Career Information Days are held in Singapore in Year 11. The German International Abitur (DIA) is prepared within a curriculum based on the Thuringia framework and international standards.

DSKL offers an extensive range of extracurricular activities as part of the full-day program, spanning sports, music, and arts and crafts. The program includes Student Band, Art Attack, Drama, Pottery, Board Games, Cooking & Baking, and volleyball and other team sports. Music education is supported with instrumental lessons arranged through qualified local tutors, offering instruments such as piano, violin, percussion, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, clarinet and flute. The DSKL Elite Athletes program provides targeted full-body training in a group.

DSKL is a German School Abroad funded by the Central Agency for Schools Abroad and operates education based on the German education system leading to German school leaving qualifications. The school works bilingually and internationally, with History taught bilingually from Year 8 and Physics taught in English from Year 9. Admission is open to children of all nationalities with adequate German language proficiency; Malaysian nationals require permission from the Malaysian Ministry of Education. English is taught from Year 1; German as a second language (DaZ) is offered in Primary, with language immersion programs for non-native German speakers; Kindergarten provides a German language environment. intercultural experiences are part of daily school life.

From Year 3, DSKL is an open full-day school, with classes running until 3:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and ending at noon on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Extracurricular Activities program includes Student Band, Art Attack, Drama, Pottery, Board Games, Cooking & Baking, and volleyball and other sports. Sports are organized in age-specific groups with regular training and an annual tournament; the program also includes the DSKL Elite Athletes initiative for targeted training. Students choose their extracurricular activities at the start of each school year and again at the start of the second semester.

Social work is an integral part of DSKL's school experience; Years 10 and 11 are expected to engage in community service, completing 30 hours of social work with social organizations. Students may select their own organization or use the school's proposals, building sustainable relationships and understanding others' circumstances. The program aims to foster empathy, tolerance and respect through active engagement with community partners.

The Higher Education & Careers Advisory Service provides resources for university studies and career choices, including four pillars: individual degree and job prospects advice, career guidance events, experiential learning through field experience, and comprehensive information materials. Individual consultations use the GEVA test introduced in Year 10, and Year 11 includes Career Information Days in Singapore. DSKL operates as an open full-day school from Year 3, with late-afternoon activities and a built-in time for rest and after-school programs.
