1. Review Age Requirements. Verify the correct year group placement for your child's age and academic level. This ensures the appropriate year group is considered for enrollment. An accurate placement helps streamline the admissions process.
2. Review Admission Criteria. Download and review the Admissions Timeline & Requirements. The August 2026 Admission Requirements & Timeline document provides details on eligibility, required documents, and key milestones. Reviewing these materials helps ensure the applicant meets all prerequisites before applying.
3. Submit the SISM Online Application. Enrollment for August 2026 includes two periods: Application Period I from 5 January to 6 February 2026, and Application Period II from 4 to 22 May 2026. Complete the Application Form through the SISM Admissions Portal and upload the required documents. Complete the Checklist Items by uploading the Duolingo English Test results and other necessary documents. Additional documents regarding health or learning needs may be requested later during the process. Documents required for Admission include: Duolingo English Test results; school academic reports for the most recent two years; primary education graduation certificate or school leaving certificate; certificate of extra-curricular activities or achievements; copies of student and parent MyKad/passes; proof of parental/guardian relationship/birth certificate; and any other relevant legal documents. All documents submitted must be in English.
4. Pay the Application Fee. A non-refundable fee of RM1,000 is required to process the application. An invoice is issued automatically upon submission. The application proceeds only after payment and submission of all required documents.
5. Undergo the Duolingo English Proficiency Test. Register and schedule the test online, and prepare using the test tools. Submit test results to Soka International School, Malaysia (SISM) directly via the Duolingo platform. For details, refer to the Duolingo English Proficiency Test Guide.
6. Mathematics Assessment. All Years 8-10 applicants must take the Mathematics Entrance Examination online via Zoom. For more details, refer to the Mathematics Entrance Examination Guide. The assessment contributes to admission evaluations.
7. SISM Entrance Interview. The SISM Entrance Interview is mandatory for all applicants and their parents/guardians. Details of the interview will be emailed once scheduled. Admission evaluations are based on document review, English proficiency, entrance examination results, and the interview. Final admission decisions are at the discretion of the school.
8. Admission Offer and Confirmation. Successful applicants receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA). Parents/guardians must confirm acceptance within the given timeframe. Failure to respond will result in forfeiting the offer.
9. Payment and Enrolment. Upon acceptance, pay the following fees to secure the child's place: deposit, enrolment fee, tuition fee, technology fee, miscellaneous fee, and boarding fee (if applicable). Ensure all fees are settled before the commencement of classes. This completes the enrollment process.
10. Class Commencement. The school looks forward to welcoming your child to Soka International School, Malaysia. Class commencement occurs as scheduled after enrollment is confirmed. Families should ensure all prior steps are completed to prepare for the start of the term.
