Counseling services are aligned with QSI's Success Orientations and help students develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. Counseling is provided across all grade levels and includes classroom guidance lessons, individual and small group counseling, collaboration with parents and teachers, and referrals to school or community support services. Career and university counseling is available for secondary students.
QSI Malta has a regional Learning Support Specialist who helps teachers develop academic plans for students who are struggling academically. The process is initiated by the teacher or the parent through the teacher. Before the specialist engages about a specific child, the parent must give written consent.
The Intensive English program is designed for students 6 years old and up whose English skills limit full access to mainstream classroom instruction. The goal is to facilitate an accelerated learning environment in which students are able to acquire English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing to be successful in their age-appropriate mainstream classes. Intensive English classes are smaller than mainstream classes to allow teachers to target individual student needs. The program includes pull-out classes and collaboration with subject-area teachers to support language development.
