The Ecole du Centre - Collège Pierre Poivre is a private school with a French program, founded in 1991. It is located in the center of the island, in a green setting at the foot of the Moka mountains, near a sports complex and close to several shopping centers, making the site easily accessible. Admissions, recruitment of teachers, programs, schedules, objectives and teaching methods comply with the standards of the French Ministry of National Education. The school is accredited as a French-program establishment by the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad). An AEFE agreement provides a network for training, inspection, guidance and the administrative secondment of teachers who hold positions in the French national education system. This partnership aims at educational excellence.
The objective is that every child flourishes in their schooling by developing all talents—academic, athletic and artistic. From the primary level, sport, visual arts, music and an introduction to the history of the arts provide a multidisciplinary education for all students. Since its creation, the school has emphasized the Mauritian context by teaching English from kindergarten, offering optional religion classes, upholding a uniform, and highlighting Mauritian history and culture. Alumni study or work in Mauritius and abroad (including South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the United States and France), showing adaptability to both Francophone and Anglophone environments; this is supported by quality linguistic, civic, artistic and sports education.
APEC (Parents Association) exists at the school. For 2025-2026, the president is Chedumbarum Pillay Kobashni; the vice president is Laetitia Gibert; the secretary is Cécile Adam; the assistant secretary is Nivedita Ramano-Egan; the treasurer is Ungnoo Soobeernathsingh; the assistant treasurer is Ananda Sunnassee. Members include Shahin Bhayat-Peerbux, Karen Chung Tick Kan, Prishni Ghoorbin, Manuela Grange, Shabeela Kalla-Monasch, Nadine Khodabaccus, Joël Maitre d'Hôtel, Julie Merle.
