French literacy is a core subject from the start of primary; in Year 1, early French reading is introduced via La Planète des Alphas; from Year 2 to Year 6, the curriculum follows the French National Curriculum adapted for an international setting. English literacy is taught through a program including Jolly Phonics (the 42 main English sounds) and Jolly Grammar to develop reading, writing, and language skills. Savannah International School in Mauritius serves children aged 3 to 11. The Early Years component follows the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) with a play-based, hands-on approach, Learning Centers, and units that begin with Entry Points and finish with Exit Points.
