An Activities Programme runs every Thursday afternoon, offering a range of options from sports to experiences beyond core subjects; activities may last a term or longer to allow deeper engagement, and seniors can lead activities with teacher support. The programme helps students broaden knowledge, develop leadership, and understand different perspectives. The Experiential Education Explore and Enhance programme provides bush-based experiences emphasising environment, wellbeing, life skills, and personal growth through leadership. In sport, 35 sports are on offer, including Athletics, Cricket, Netball, Rugby, and more, with inter-school exchanges and AIMS Games participation.
Whanaungatanga is central, and students complete several community service projects annually. Each term, Whānau Community Services Afternoon focuses on helping local non-profit organisations, with activities such as gardening at a Marae and Primary School, companionship at Falls Lifestyle Village, creating art murals for Alzheimer's Northland, food drives, helping at charity shops, working with I Have a Dream in Tikipunga, and rubbish clean-ups. Participation develops teamwork, leadership, and a work-ready mindset. The program fosters ongoing connections between students, staff, and local communities.
Student leadership is embedded in the College through Prefects, Whānau Prefects, and a School Prefect group, with leadership roles and responsibilities across year groups. The Student Leaders page features Prefect roles such as Head Prefects, Deputy Heads, and Whānau Prefects, and includes messages about leadership, voice, and community. A new Student Council and mentorship initiatives support student consultation and peer tutoring, while the Careers Education and Futures Leader offers one-to-one guidance and the Careers Central platform to plan courses, build CVs, and connect with opportunities. Senior students are encouraged to lead activities and participate in mentorship programs that prepare them for careers and further study.
