Academic and Intellectual

Pinehurst offers the Cambridge Pathway from Year 1 through Year 13, including IGCSE and AS & A Levels. The Cambridge curriculum is flexible, challenging, and designed to inspire independent thinking, preparing students for top universities. The school provides university pathways in New Zealand and internationally.

Arts and Creative

Arts are a vibrant part of Pinehurst, with Music, Drama and Visual Arts offered from Primary to College. Drama & Productions run annual Primary and College productions in a purpose-built theatre, fostering leadership, collaboration and confidence. The co-curricular Music program offers a wide range of groups, including choirs, orchestras, bands and chamber ensembles.

Cultural and Language

Cultural Clubs form part of Pinehurst's co-curricular life, alongside sport, music and leadership. The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Awards fosters voluntary service, physical recreation, skills and adventurous journeys, building independence, wellbeing, leadership and social responsibility. The Cambridge Pathway and international university pathways reinforce a global perspective.

Social and Hobbies

Pinehurst runs more than 150 sports teams across summer and winter, supported by two Sports Coordinators and top facilities including two gymnasiums and a full-size TigerTurf field. The athletics program includes Inter-house Athletics and Cross Country, badminton, basketball, climbing, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, netball and more, with fixtures at local venues and national competitions. Students may also take part in tennis, snow sports, table tennis and water polo among other activities.

Community and Service

The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Awards is a central school program focused on voluntary service, physical recreation, skills and Adventurous Journey; Bronze is compulsory for Year 10 with Silver and Gold for Years 11–13. The program includes practice and qualifying camps and a residential project at Gold level, developing independence and leadership. Pinehurst also recognises service through its Pinehurst Service Award, honoring students who contribute to school life and the wider community.

Leadership and Professional

Leadership is encouraged from the earliest years, with Senior Leaders and a range of student roles such as House Captains, Student Councils and other leadership responsibilities. The Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Awards also cultivate leadership, initiative and teamwork. Student Leaders maintain Careers Leaders and other roles to support professional development and community impact.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Pastoral care and student wellbeing are embedded in everyday school life, with mentoring and a dedicated support team. Life at Pinehurst blends academics with sport, camps and outdoor experiences to build confidence, resilience and balance. Pinehurst School, located in New Zealand, is an independent co-educational school offering the Cambridge Pathway from Year 1 to Year 13. The curriculum runs Cambridge Primary, IGCSE, and Cambridge International AS and A Levels, with Cambridge Fellowship since 2006 and selected as New Zealand's Cambridge Demonstration Centre in 2022. The school opened in 1991 after being founded in 1990, beginning as a not-for-profit community school. A major infrastructure program in the 1990s and the theatre's opening in 2023 reflect ongoing development. The campus comprises two locations with three Primary playgrounds, purpose-built learning zones, and a 253-seat theatre used for drama, music, assemblies and presentations. Sports are central, with two gymnasiums, a TigerTurf field, a six-court turf, and access to Millennium Centre and Northern Arena Swimming Centre, supporting over 150 teams. The Arts, music, drama and dance are integrated across Primary to College, along with the Duke of Edinburgh programme and productions.
