The PTA manages a Travel Fund to provide financial assistance for travel that benefits the student and Rangi Ruru School. As of 2022, $5,000 is allocated annually to the Travel Fund, and any unallocated funds roll over to the next year. Grants can be awarded to groups (up to $1,000 for groups over 20 students, up to $750 for groups of up to 20, up to $500 for groups of up to 10) or to individuals (up to $150, or up to $100 for travel within NZ and Australia, up to $150 for travel to other countries). Travel Fund grants may be used for land travel, flights, accommodation and meals related to the event and are intended to cover only a portion of total travel costs. Applications require a PTA Travel Fund Application Form and signatures from the relevant teacher and the school Assistant Principal, and should be emailed to pta@rangiruru.school.nz. The fund is administered by the PTA Committee, with annual allocations and a Travel Fund sub-committee that rates applications on merit and decides approvals, with results reported to the School Board.
