It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
ISWK was founded in 1941 as a Gujarati medium school for the children of Muscat's business community. In 1987 it took its present shape as Indian School Muttrah, with English as the medium of instruction. After relocating to new premises in Al Wadi Al Kabir, it was renamed Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir in September 1993. It received CBSE composite affiliation up to Grade X in 1992 and was upgraded to the senior secondary level in 1999. The school is administered by a Managing Committee drawn from Muscat's business community.
ISWK's community life includes active participation from students, families, and alumni in large-scale events. The Indian School Talent Fest (ISTF) 2024, hosted by ISWK under the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, drew participants from 22 Indian schools across Oman. The school also hosts the Annual Athletic Meet and Drill Display, and in March 2023 it launched its Alumni Association to connect graduates with current students and staff. Republic Day celebrations were held in 2018, reflecting the school's engagement with Indian national culture.
Parent involvement is organized through periodic Parent-Teacher Meetings. A Parents Orientation Programme is conducted to welcome and orient new families. The school is governed by a School Management Committee (SMC) comprising representatives from the business community, with the Executive Director and other committee members overseeing core operations. ISWK established its Alumni Association in March 2023 to strengthen ties between graduates and the school community. Official communications with parents are published as circulars and notices on the ISWK site, and PTMs are scheduled according to the academic calendar.
