Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Indian School Bousher began in 2019 to serve the Indian expatriate community in Oman, starting with about 1,800 students. It operates within the Indian Schools in Oman governance framework, with a Board of Directors and a School Management Committee (SMC) overseeing the school. Enrollment has grown to over 3,000 students, reflecting expansion in classes and facilities. The school follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum and offers Kindergarten through Grade XII. Governance is led by the President of the School Management Committee, with a Board-appointed director in charge for Indian School Bousher.

Community

ISB maintains an active school community with a calendar of events spanning academics, culture, and national celebrations. The News & Events section shows ISQUIZ competitions, annual day programs, and a range of grade-level cultural activities. The school also observes Oman National Day, Gandhi Jayanti, and Diwali, and it supports family involvement through regular parent-facilitator meetings and orientations.

Parent-Teacher Association

ISB does not have a separate PTA; governance and parental involvement operate through the School Management Committee (SMC) and the Board of Directors that oversee Indian Schools in Oman. The SMC at Indian School Bousher includes a President, a Convener, a Treasurer, and other committee heads who supervise subcommittees such as welfare, health and grievances; IT; infrastructure; finance and planning; and transport. The Board of Directors is the apex policymaking body for all Indian Schools in Oman, with a director in charge for Indian School Bousher. Parent involvement is encouraged through regular parent-facilitator meetings, orientations, and other gatherings to promote open communication between parents and the school. These structures provide a PTA-like channel for parental input and collaboration within ISB.
