Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Indian School Ibri was established in 1989, though the groundwork began in 1987 when a group of eminent Indians in Ibri—Dr. R.R. Nair, K.U. Majeed, K.V. Menon, A.K. Ahmed and Ramesh Bhat—decided to start a school for the Indian community. It opened with four teachers and 45 students in a small building. The School Management Committee identified a site for a new building in 1993, and the school moved to the new premises in August 1994. The Arts Festival began in 1993 to unveil and nurture the latent talents of its pupils, and the school gained affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education in 1995. The 1990s also saw the introduction of computer studies in 1995 and Bharat Scouts & Guides in 1997, with the auditorium built in 1998.
