It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The French School of Muscat was founded in 1979 as a small villa. A new campus at Airport Heights was built on a 10,000 m² plot gifted by the Government of Oman, with the working environment inaugurated in 2015. The campus project culminated in January 2016 when the school officially became Lycée Français de Mascate. The school is part of the AEFE network, linking it to the global network of French schools abroad. It is governed by a parent association under Oman's Ministry guidelines, with an administrative, financial and educational agreement with AEFE and a board of five elected parent members along with the school principal, a representative of the French embassy, and two embassy-named experts as non-voting members.
LFIM hosts a mosaic of identities with students from many nationalities, and most students do not speak French at home; the school supports all learning profiles through plurilingual education. From kindergarten onward, instruction is in French with Arabic and English, and a fourth language may be introduced in middle school. The school maintains an active community presence through regular newsletters and a student-run web radio, providing channels for family and student engagement. The school collaborates with partners and sponsors to support activities and programs.
The Lycée Français de Mascate is managed by a parent association (PTA) in line with Oman's guidelines for foreign schools. The association has signed an administrative, financial and educational agreement with the AEFE, which covers the assignment and remuneration of staff from the French Ministry of Education and the allocation of subsidies. The governing board comprises five elected parent members as voting directors, with non-voting members including the school principal, a representative of the French embassy, and two experts named by the embassy. The PTA provides parent representation on governance and coordinates with school leadership and AEFE on staffing and funding matters. Families stay informed and involved through the school's newsletters (published regularly, including 2025–2026 issues) and the web radio, indicating ongoing family engagement with school life. The school also features partnerships and sponsors that support school activities, which the PTA helps to coordinate and leverage.
