Pakistan School Sohar began in 1992 in a small rented building in Hambar, Sohar, with the aim of providing the best possible education to Pakistani children residing in Oman, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education Oman. Growing demand and the increasing number of students motivated the Board of Directors, the Embassy personnel, the Pakistan community, and its beneficiaries to plan and start the construction of a purpose-built campus in Sohar, with the support of the Embassy of Pakistan and His Highness Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. A 5000 square foot parcel of land was leased for the purpose-built campus. The foundation stone of the project was laid on 24 April 2013 by H.E. Shaikh Muhanna bin Saif bin Salim Al Lamki, Governor of North Batinah, in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Pakistan Nawabzada Aminullah Khan Raisani. Construction was completed by the Board of Directors with the help of community members, and the campus began operating in August 2015.
Pakistan School Sohar describes its community as diverse and inclusive, reflecting the rich tapestry of Pakistan and other nationalities of the world. The school's leadership emphasizes values such as empathy, tolerance, and respect, and seeks to provide a safe, nurturing environment for students. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, sports, research initiatives, sustainability development goals, and community service opportunities.
The Pakistan School Oman network uses a Parent Council as the principal body for parent engagement, serving as ambassadors for the school and strengthening the partnership with families. In 2024-25, an introductory meeting established several committees to support governance and school life, including Student Welfare, Academic, Audit, Quality Assurance, and Events. The Events Committee is among these committees and is charged with planning and coordinating school events. Minutes are circulated and recorded after meetings to ensure transparency and accountability. A major example of PTA-like activity is the Pakistan School Muscat's hosting of the International Hifz-ul-Quran competition, which demonstrates active parental and community involvement in school life.
Pakistan School Sohar is a dedicated community educational institution located in the Al Batinah North Governorate of Oman. Established to serve the needs of Pakistani families in the region, the school operates from a modern, purpose-built campus on Wadi Hibbi Road, which opened in 2015. The school follows the curriculum of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad, providing a seamless educational pathway from Kindergarten through to Higher Secondary School (HSSC).
