Student dress must be discreet and not interrupt the learning process. A student may not dress, display, or wear emblems, insignias, badges or other symbols whose effect is to unduly distract others or offend and cause disruption to the school. The Level Director or another authorized school official will determine whether a particular form of dress violates this policy. For sports, students representing ASA must wear the official ASA sports uniform; students on athletic teams must purchase the uniform approved by the administration; students who do not purchase the uniform will not be authorized to participate on the relevant ASA team.
The school has a lunch buffet served in the canteen; the lunch program includes sustainability measures, such as using reusable cups and cutlery to reduce single-use plastics.
ASA is governed by the Board of Directors under the statutes of the School's Parents Association. The Board comprises nine voting members: four Paraguayan citizens, four American citizens, and one citizen of a third nationality; an appointee of the U.S. Ambassador sits as an ex officio member with a voice but no vote. Board officers (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Pro Treasurer, Secretary) are elected annually, and the Board meets monthly (excluding January). The Director General leads school operations. ASA is a day school and holds MEC and AdvancED accreditation.
The American School of Asunción (ASA) is a bilingual, college-preparatory international school in Paraguay with 802 students and 99 faculty members (51 international). The school represents 34 student nationalities.
